How To Measure For A Hospital Curtain Track

Apr 6, 2021

Measuring up for a standard L-shaped hospital curtain track can be confusing, especially getting your measurements down correctly, so this post is here to help!

To start with we will send you a specific track drawing sheet. This is so we can correctly manufacture the bespoke track for you. To complete this sheet you’re going to need the track measurements.

Track Sheet Example

To take the track measurements you’ll need a tape measure and your sheet to write down the measurements.

The most important measurements to note:

  • The center of the track to the wall in both directions. (Be sure to note also what shape it is, whether it’s an L shape or reverse L shape)
  • From the ceiling to the top of the track
  • From the underside of the track to the floor. (The standard NHS guidelines state there must be 2.1 m from the floor to the underside of the track)

All our tracks are made to the standard 90 degree bend, so please specify should you require a different angle.

Examples of an L Shaped Track (L) & Reverse L Shaped Track (R)

Getting it onto your track sheet!

First, fill in the sheet details at the top if applicable and begin by drawing on the shape of your track. Make sure to put whether this is an L shape track or a reverse L shape. It is especially important that you draw the track as a birds-eye view – and mark this on the drawing! It doesn’t matter if your drawing is rough and it doesn’t have to be to scale. You’re going to simply write your two measurements for either length of the track by the corresponding side.

Use the key below the drawing space to let us know what other components you’re going to need and simply draw these onto your track. Once your sheet is complete, just take a photo of it or scan it in and send it back to us. Our team will then get to work to provide your track quotation
