A new look for Winton House
Client – Abbeyfield Maidenhead Society
Location – Windsor, UK
Project description
Winton House in Windsor provides day, respite and residential care. It is run by the charity Abbeyfield Maidenhead Society, with a particular focus on delivering the best possible care, tailored to meet residents’ needs, and aimed at maintaining their individuality and independence.
As part of a refurbishment of the main lounge area, Michele Valimaa, General Manager, chose Bridge to supply new fire-retardant window dressings and armchairs.
Michelle was keen to get the residents’ views on colours and styles, so we brought a selection of suitable fire retardant fabric samples to the site survey.
The residents selected a beautiful floral fabric from iLiv in cream and green tones. Given the size of the window, we recommended incorporating a leading edge to the curtains to make the divide easy to see when opening and closing. Vertical blinds in cream added a clean, elegant touch to control light levels during the day.
We designed a selection of high and medium back armchairs with matching and complementary upholstery, creating a cohesive and relaxing atmosphere in the lounge.
“Creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for our residents is always a priority, so it was important that they had a say in the look and feel of our refurbished lounge. Bridge were fantastic at involving our residents in the design process, and the result has transformed the space. The new curtains, blinds and chairs are not only stylish and homely but also practical and safe for our care setting.”
